After a mini tour of Berlin my two lovely Florida friends and I piled back into our rental car and drove two and half hours to Dresden. I booked us a four bedroom private room at the Lollis Homestay Hostel in the awesomely funky Neustadt. It’s a bit chaotic driving in that part of town with lots of bikers, pedestrians, narrow streets and cars parked on both sides of the road. Let’s just say that I think I stopped breathing for a few mins while trying to find an open spot to parallel park in. Greeted by a gracious and friendly staff we felt right at home.
As we headed up the stairs to our room we were greeted with a smile inducing disco ball when we opened the door to our hallway and then entered our room where we felt like Lilliputians. Our room was decked out with ginormous couch, table and chairs, which held the four beds. Me being forever a giant five year old of course I called dibs on one of the beds on top the table. Every room appears to have a different fun theme. Check out their website to see more photos.
We were treated to a delish German breakfast spread in the morning in their kitchen area which had a great setup for those who want to save a few bucks and bring/cook their own food. On top of that they also have books, balls, games, etc you can borrow as well as different free events throughout the week including learning German and free dinners.
The fun, artistic vibe of the Lollis Hostel, local knowledgeable staff and low price make this a fantastic place to lay your head and meet other travelers. I highly highly recommend you check it out when you visit Dresden.
