Arriving in London after a bus ride, a flight and another bus ride our group of almost 50 Germans finally got to enjoy some breakfast. We flooded this little cafe, Cafe Piazza, in Hay’s Galleria (where we had a reservation) and patiently awaited our pre-ordered coffees and breakfast. It was a bit chaotic but the staff were really great and my avocado mash bacon breakfast I had was delish! I was so tired I kept trying to talk to the waitress in German… I think they handled our delirium with grace.
The galleria is a sight to see with the sun bouncing through the architecture, the art and the history. This galleria was previously an enclosed wharf and after a bombing in the ’40s had to close due to the shipping industry moving to deeper waters. The art in the center of the galleria is a 60 ft moving bronze sculpture called ‘The Navigators’ by sculptor David Kemp and reflects the shipping heritage.
